DEAD AND GONE
Set in the fictional city of Caneford, Dead and Gone is a play-by-post role-playing game that focuses on the lives of stray and abandoned dogs. The site has no specific plot, enabling players to come up with their own storylines and thus allowing Dead and Gone to continue as a community that includes everyone.
Sometimes, member-created plots will become ones that involve the whole site, be it for a short, set amount of time, or a longer and less restricted amount of time. Variety is encouraged here; we don’t want to see a hundred wolf-dog hybrids running around, but we also don’t want to see millions of famous, show-winning pedigree dogs that got ‘tired’ of the high-life and decided to run away.
Difference is the key, as we say here.
The current version of the site—number one—reflects on the name of a song by Snow Patrol, called ‘We Can Run Away Now They’re All Dead And Gone’. As you may have noticed, the title of Dead and Gone also comes from the aforementioned song, and although the version has no particular meaning, it often helps the ‘creative juices,’ of members to flow, as both the song, the site title and the current version of the site offer many ideas as to what the history of Dead and Gone actually is.
Players and their characters are encouraged to form relationships both in-character and out of character. Dead and Gone likes to think of itself as a closely-knit community, even if—at the moment—it’s a little low on members, having just started up and such.

Simply post here saying that you're up for plots with various people, then others should reply, and in no time at all, you'll be role-playing like a cheetah on speed and your dog(s) won't be lonely anymore!
Leading out of the city, Turnpike Lane is often described as a beaten, worn track surrounded by woodland. In the winter, snow is thick here, whilst in the summer, bluebells flourish. If you're looking for a place to talk to others, here is your best shot.
To the West of the city is Caneford Beach, an area of clean, untouched sand and sea. The sunsets are magnificent here, also adding to the romantic atmosphere that can almost be felt in the air. During the spring and summer, breeding between dogs takes here, and no matter what the season, this is the perfect place to relax with a loved one.
Joseph Benson owns Caneford's resident farm, and he certainly doesn't like stray dogs. Nicknamed 'Benson's Field,' this field is bordered to the South by Turnpike Lane, so it's easly accessible to dogs. Relatively safe - unless Joseph catches you, of course - it's a good place to bring offspring or enjoy time to yourself.
To be honest, it's not really a wall. Located through an alleyway, The End is a hidden garage complex where people store their cars and things that won't fit in their houses. Fighting between dogs often takes place here, and the last garage is open and deserted, serving as a good place for females to give birth.
The former owners of the mansion have been dead for years, and since they left no one to inherit the house, it has become derelict and abandoned. Situated high on a hill and overlooking the city somewhat, the dogs that live here are often regarded as wilder and more feral than any other strays.
In the heart of Caneford is an area that consists of flats for those who are unable to work. Those people usually consist of alcoholics, drug addicts or teenage mothers with children, and none of them are nice to be around. Thriving off whatever is thrown away or found on the estate, a pack of dogs somehow manages to survive here, even if it's one of the least friendliest places on Earth (or, at least in Caneford).
Intimidating, even from afar, no one really knows how Sharktooth Grotto got its name. It's located near the cliffs of Caneford Beach and provides excellent protection against the elements, also being too far up on the terrain to be threatened by the incoming tide. Catacombs make up the majority of the cave, so it's a rather natural place for a pack of dogs to live.
About a mile away from Turnpike Lane, Emerald Glebe is a vast expanse of acres that not even Joseph Benson can get his hands on, mainly because it's being left for wildlife to thrive in. Woodland surrounds the glebe to the East, and the fences that once kept the dogs out are rotting away, most of them leaning on each other in a haphazard manner.
